Module I. Global context. Climate Change and Sustainability
- Climate change and Global Warming
- Science of climate change and context
- Historical evolution of GHG emissions and world temperature
- National, international and regional commitments.
- Current legislation: Paris Agreement, EU Green Deal, Fit for 55, European Climate Law, Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, EU Taxonomy, Sustainable Financial Disclosure Regulation Climate Action (worldwide efforts to adaption and mitigation to Climate Change).
- Call to action, organisational climate action strategies
Module II. Calculation of GHG inventories
- Terms and definitions of related standards: ISO 14064-1:2018, GHG protocol, Corporate Value Chain Standard (scope 3)
- Scope and Principles.
- GHG boundaries (scope 1, 2 and 3)
- Quantification of GHG emissions and removals. (Methods for quantifying and reporting direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions within organisations).
- Methodology to identify, evaluate and select significant indirect emissions from the value chain.
- GHG inventory quality management including information management and procedures.
- GHG report preparation.
- Practical exercises.
Module III. Management of reductions greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and enhancing GHG removals
Emission reduction and removal enhancement requirements; methodological principles for implementing and evaluating Greenhouse Gas reductions and removal enhancements.
- Planning of GHG reductions.
- Documentation of GHG reductions execution
- Limiting the release of greenhouse gases.
- Upgrades to the removal of greenhouse gases.
- Practical exercises.
Module IV. Carbon Neutrality & Net Zero pathways
- Difference between Carbon Neutrality and Net Zero.
- Principles for guaranteeing the attainment and demonstration of carbon neutrality.
- Requirements for Carbon Neutrality: ISO 14068-1:2023, PAS 2060.
- Commitment to Carbon Neutrality. Carbon neutrality management plan.
- Carbon neutrality report and claims.
- Evolve to Net Zero commitments and pathways: ISO 14068-1:2023, SBTi and IWA 42.
- Requirements for setting Net Zero Pathways.

Module V. Validation & Verification of GHG inventories (based on ISO 14064-3:2019)
- Related terms and definitions for validation and verification of GHG.

- General and specific requirements applicable to verification/validation, including other related standards.
- Pre engagement activities (type of commitment, level of assurance, objectives, criteria, materiality thresholds).
- Team competencies and selection.
