Ethos are a team of collaborative and creative consultant engineers & professionals leading data centre and energy infrastructure project teams globally.  As the business continued to strengthen its environmental reporting, it wanted independent assurance that its greenhouse gas information was robust, transparent and ready to stand up to stakeholder scrutiny.

That ambition led Ethos to EcoVerify. The result was a positive verification opinion covering its 2025 organisational greenhouse gas inventory across Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions – making Ethos, according to EcoVerify programme records, the first engineering firm in Ireland to achieve accredited verification of this kind with EcoVerify.

The ambition: move from disclosure to proof.

For Ethos, measuring emissions was only one part of credible climate action. The company wanted to go further by having its reporting independently examined against recognised criteria. This would give greater confidence to clients, employees, investors and other stakeholders, while creating a stronger evidence base for future emissions reduction decisions.

The objective was clear: validate the integrity of the organisational and reporting boundaries, test the supporting evidence, and establish whether the reported GHG statement was materially accurate, complete and correctly declared. The engagement was designed to provide assurance without turning the public story into a disclosure of commercially or operationally sensitive information.

The verification process.

EcoVerify carried out an independent verification of Ethos’s 2025 GHG inventory in accordance with ISO 14064-3, using the GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard, the GHG Protocol Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard and the EcoVerify GHG Programme as the verification criteria.

The work followed a structured, evidence-led process:

1. Planning and scoping: The verification team confirmed the intended use, reporting period, organisational boundary, reporting boundary, criteria and assurance requirements.
2. Evidence review: EcoVerify reviewed the supporting methodologies, source information, calculations and data-management controls underpinning the GHG statement.
3. Testing and challenge: The team evaluated the completeness and consistency of the inventory, tested selected evidence and challenged areas requiring clarification or improvement.
4. Resolution and conclusion: Ethos responded to verification queries and addressed the points raised, enabling EcoVerify to reach an independent, evidence-based conclusion.

The outcome: credible, independently verified reporting.

Following completion of the process, EcoVerify issued Ethos with a positive verification opinion at a reasonable level of assurance. The conclusion confirmed that the company’s reported Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions for 2025 were material, complete and correctly declared, based on the evidence gathered during the engagement.

This milestone gives Ethos an independently verified foundation for sustainability reporting and future climate action. It strengthens confidence in the information the company shares, supports more informed decision-making and demonstrates a willingness to subject environmental claims to rigorous external scrutiny.
